Need to knows about Needling Aftercare

Skin needling, a popular skin rejuvenation treatment, involves using tiny needles to create micro-injuries on the skin's surface, stimulating collagen and elastin production.

Proper aftercare is essential to maximise benefits and minimise risks. Immediately after skin needling, it is crucial to cleanse your skin gently with a non-foaming cleanser and lukewarm water.

Avoid using hot water.

Apply a hydrating serum or moisturiser, preferably one with hyaluronic acid, to keep the skin hydrated.

Steer clear of products containing active ingredients like retinoids, vitamin C, and acids for the first 48 hours.

It's also recommended to avoid makeup for at least 24 hours to prevent irritation and infection.

Sun protection is paramount following skin needling. Avoid direct sun exposure and stay indoors as much as possible. If you need to go outside, wear a wide-brimmed hat. After the initial 24-48 hours, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. Physical sunscreens with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide are preferred as they are less likely to cause irritation.

During the healing phase, refrain from exfoliating your skin for at least a week. This includes scrubs, exfoliating cleansers, and brushes. Minimise activities that cause excessive sweating, such as intense exercise, saunas, and hot tubs, for at least 48 hours to reduce the risk of irritation and infection.

Continue using hydrating serums and moisturisers to support the skin's healing process, and consider ingredients like peptides and growth factors for additional benefits. Staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water is also essential to aid in the healing process.

Avoid using any harsh skincare products, including those with alcohol, fragrances, and artificial colours, for at least a week.

Resist the urge to pick or scratch your skin, even if it feels itchy or begins to peel, to prevent scarring and infection.

Monitor your skin for any unusual reactions. Some redness, swelling, and mild discomfort are normal.

By following these aftercare steps, you can ensure a smoother recovery and achieve optimal results from your skin needling treatment.
