What are Spicules?
Spicules are microscopic, needle-like structures derived from freshwater sponge and refined for cosmetic use. Finer than vellus hair, they are gently embedded into the epidermis where they create controlled micro-stimulation. Rich in natural minerals and proteins, they support skin renewal by triggering a targeted regeneration response without penetrating the dermis or compromising the skin barrier.

How it works
A gentle approach to skin resurfacing and renewal, this treatment is delivered through a rich cream texture.
When we embed the spicules with a specific technique into the skin, we are triggering a micro-repair process (think, a cellular wake up call), activating our skin’s renewal process all while keeping the skin’s barrier intact.

This treatment is ideal for ageing, dull, weakened, or devitalised skin needing renewal and refinement. It supports collagen production, improves elasticity, smooths texture, and enhances radiance. Suitable for all Fitzpatrick skin types, it is a great option for clients wanting visible rejuvenation with minimal downtime and a gentler resurfacing approach.
Downtime and aftercare
Most clients experience mild to moderate flaking starting around day 2–3, lasting up to 7 days. Tightness is normal, but downtime is minimal. Keep skin hydrated and soothed, avoid active ingredients and exfoliants, wear daily SPF, and do not pick or scratch the skin. Gentle exfoliation may resume after 5–7 days if advised.
Is my skin suitable?
This treatment is suitable for all Fitzpatrick skin types and does not require extensive preparation. It should be avoided with cold sores or compromised skin. Clients on using prescription topicals may require appropriate waiting periods before treatment.
How does this work with skin needling?
Skin needling targets deeper collagen stimulation and cell turnover, spicules work within the epidermis to create widespread micro-stimulation. This encourages faster surface renewal with less inflammation and downtime. Used together, they complement each other for a greatly enhanced surface regeneration and improvement in skin resilience. Resulting in brighter, smoother skin.
