Thinking about booking your first skin needling treatment? Here’s everything you need to know beforehand to feel confident, safe, and ready for your appointment.
What concerns does skin needling treat?
Skin needling (also known as microneedling) treats a range of concerns:
It’s one of the most effective treatments available for long-term skin regeneration and collagen stimulation.
Is it safe for all skin types and tones?
Yes — skin needling is safe and effective for all Fitzpatrick skin types (I–VI). We always tailor depth and technique to suit your individual skin.
Can I have skin needling if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?
No. Skin needling is not recommended while pregnant or breastfeeding, due to the healing response required and contraindicated ingredients in some pre/post-care.
If you're expecting or nursing, treatments like Herbal B Peel or Phyto Peel are safe alternatives — and great ways to prep your skin before transitioning to needling later.
Depending on the severity of your acne we may recommend treating first with the Herbal B Peel. This is a decision that we can also make on the day when you arrive for your appointment. Once inflammation has settled, skin needling is ideal to target post-acne scarring and improve skin texture.
Is there any prep I need to do?
Yes — here’s how to prep your skin for the best results:
Can I have this before a big event?
Yes you can. As redness or flaking will last just 1–3 days, We recommend Skin Needling at least 5–7 days before an important event to have your skin glowing at it's best! For zero-downtime treatments, we have the Ultimate Glow Facial or Deluxe Anti Ageing Facial.
How do I know if it’s the right treatment for me?
If you want firmer, clearer, smoother skin and are committed to long-term results — it likely is. Book a consultation and we’ll assess your skin, current routine, and treatment history to tailor your journey.
During Your Skin Needling Treatment: What to Expect
Your appointment is all about creating transformation — with comfort, safety, and great results at the core. Here’s what happens during your treatment so you know exactly what to expect.
You may feel mild discomfort, but we apply a medical-grade numbing cream beforehand to make the experience as comfortable as possible. Most clients describe the sensation as a light scratch or vibration.
Mild pinpoint bleeding is expected — it's a sign the treatment is working at the right depth. This is minimal and stops almost immediately. It’s part of the collagen-stimulating process.
What happens during the appointment?
Treatment takes approximately 30–60 minutes depending on the areas treated.
What kind of device do you use?
We use 1Need, a professional-grade clinical needling device that is TGA approved. The device delivers precise depth control (0.25mm to 2.5mm) across different zones of the face and body. This ensures maximum results with minimal discomfort — far more advanced than at-home rollers or cosmetic pens. This is not a basic dermal pen — it’s a high-performance device designed for real results.
Will you customise the treatment to my skin?
Always. We adjust the depth, speed, serums, and technique depending on:
Can I combine this with other treatments?
Absolutely. We recommend alternating Skin Needling with either RF Needling, the Herbal B Peel or LED treatments. Your therapist will guide you on the best long-term treatment plan for your skin.
