RF Needling works by triggering a controlled healing response — so what you do in the first few days post-treatment can make a big difference to your results. Here's how to care for your skin and what to expect after your session.
What will my skin look and feel like after treatment?
Immediately after, you may experience:
- Redness or flushing (like a mild sunburn)
- Slight swelling or puffiness
- Warmth or sensitivity
- Minor pinpoint marks or flaking
These effects usually settle within 24–72 hours, depending on your skin and treatment depth.
Can I wear makeup after RF microneedling?
Avoid makeup for 12–24 hours, and use only mineral-based products if needed. Avoid sponges, brushes, or anything that might irritate the skin.

When can I wash my face?
After 6–12 hours, you can gently cleanse your skin using:
- A mild, non-active cleanser
- Cool or lukewarm water
- Clean hands (no scrubbing or cloths)
Pat dry with a clean towel.
What products should I avoid?
For 3 full days post-treatment, avoid:
- Retinol or Vitamin A
- Acids (AHAs, BHAs, PHAs)
- Vitamin C or any active serums
- Exfoliants (physical or chemical)
- Fragranced or harsh products
Stick to soothing, hydrating skincare — your therapist will provide product recommendations specific to your skin.
Can I work out or go in the sun?
Avoid the following for at least 24–48 hours:
- Exercise or anything that causes sweating
- Saunas, spas, or steam rooms
- Hot showers
- Sun exposure without protection
Your skin is more vulnerable while healing. Wear broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily, even indoors if near windows.
When can I exfoliate again?
After 3 days, if your skin has settled, you may gently exfoliate (e.g. with Dr Spiller Jojoba Peeling Cream) — but only if advised by your therapist.
When can I resume other treatments?
Most facials, LED, and skin treatments can resume 5 days post RF. We'll guide you on timing, especially if you're alternating RF with skin needling or doing a course of Cosmelan.
