Before Your RF Needling Treatment: What You Need to Know

Thinking about booking your first RF microneedling session? Here’s everything you should know to prepare for your treatment and get the best possible

What concerns does RF microneedling treat?

RF microneedling is incredibly versatile. It treats:

  • Pigmentation — including melasma and sun damage
  • Redness — such as rosacea or broken capillaries
  • Skin laxity — especially around the eyes, jawline, and neck
  • Texture & scarring — acne scars, large pores, uneven skin
  • Fine lines & wrinkles
  • Stretch marks

If you're unsure whether it's right for you, we can tailor a treatment plan based on your skin goals.

Is it safe for all skin tones?

Yes — RF microneedling is safe for all Fitzpatrick types. Unlike lasers, it doesn’t rely on light energy, making it an excellent option for deeper skin tones or those prone to hyperpigmentation.

Can I have RF microneedling if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

No. RF is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to the intensity of the treatment and use of heat-based technology. We recommend gentler options such as Herbal B Peel or Phyto Peel until you're ready to return to active treatments like RF or skin needling.

What’s the difference between this and regular skin needling?

RF microneedling combines collagen-stimulating needling with radiofrequency energy, which helps to:

  • Firm and tighten loose skin
  • Treat melasma and redness at the vascular level
  • Improve deeper lines and scarring

We often recommend alternating between RF and skin needling for clients wanting the best of both worlds.

How do I prepare for my appointment?

For 5–7 days before treatment:

  • Avoid retinols, acids, or exfoliating products
  • Pause prescription skincare (unless advised otherwise)
  • Avoid sunburn or heavy sun exposure
  • Let us know if you’ve recently had fillers or anti-wrinkle injections (you’ll need to wait 2–4 weeks)

Can I have this before an event?

You may have redness and swelling for 24–48 hours, so we don’t recommend doing this right before an important event. Plan your treatment at least 5–7 days in advance, or consider Herbal B Peel for a no-downtime glow.
